Helen Ramaglia, who was featured in the May 2012 Northside Woman for her work with foster children, will be honored next month in Washington, D.C., by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI). Ramaglia will receive the “2012 Angels in Adoption” award during the Sept. 12 ceremony, recognizing her advocacy of foster care issues through her Fostering Superstars organization in Georgia.
Since 1999, the CCAI has honored more than 1,800 “angels,” and Ramaglia joins a select group of honorees including former First Lady Laura Bush, Jane Seymour, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Willis, Wendy’s restaurants founder Dave Thomas and Kristin Chenoweth.
Ramaglia, who spent her youth in a series of foster homes, founded Fostering Superstars in 2010 to help link the varied resources available to foster children in the most efficient manner. She and her husband, John, are parents to two foster children, and reside in Alpharetta.
