Publisher’s Note | March 2012
What a difference a year makes! Last year, during our March issue, I was in the midst of wedding plans for my oldest son and going in several different directions at once. Last year, our annual March edition of Northside Woman featured my lovely daughter-in-law; and I’m thrilled to feature another beautiful bride who I’ve known for many years on this month’s cover.
Through the process of finding the perfect dress for the wedding, I met the Williams family at Treasures Formals in Roswell. The story of how they came to own their business was both inspiring and tragic, and I knew their story had to be told in Northside Woman. You will meet the Williams sisters and their mother in this issue, and get a full sense of their amazing strength.
March is the month when we all get to be Irish, at least for a day. Our Good Eats column introduces Judith McLoughlin, a talented Scots-Irish cook who sees many similarities between her native Northern Ireland and her new home in Roswell, especially in the areas of food and hospitality.
The Irish-at-heart can also party for a great cause on March 10, when Shamrockin’ for a Cure comes to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta. Two brothers with Cystic Fibrosis inspired this energetic fundraiser, organized by a local mom who felt called to make a difference.
And speaking of Ireland, our beauty writer, Cynthia Morrison Eike, is on an extended visit to Ireland and writes about the beauty and styles of the Irish in her monthly column. When it all comes down to it, women and their ideals of style don’t differ much, regardless of the geography!
We are excited to have a new Northside Woman website. Please tell us what you think.
There’s so much to do in March as we move out of the winter doldrums and look forward to warmer weather. And Northside Woman will be right there as you plan your busy days.
